Synergies for the Energy Transition in the South Southeast of Mexico

Green hydrogen (H2V) has the potential to significantly advance the energy transition in Mexico, with promising opportunities in the South Southeast region. However, realizing this potential will require extensive multi-sectoral cooperation, capacity building, and knowledge sharing.

On August 15, 2024, the Mexican-German Energy Partnership participated in the forum titled "Energy Transition in the South Southeast of Mexico: Combatting Climate Change and Promoting Green Industrialization," organized by the Mexico Climate Initiative (ICM) and the Trust for South Southeast Regional Development (FIDESUR). The forum aimed to present a regional initiative for energy transition, focusing on combating climate change and exploring green industrialization opportunities in the South Southeast region.

The event brought together public officials, energy sector business organizations, cooperation agencies such as German Technical Cooperation (GIZ Mexico), journalists specializing in energy transition, and other stakeholders interested in green hydrogen industrial development in the region.

Key activities during the forum included a panel discussion on the challenges of the energy transition in Mexico, two discussions on the opportunities presented by green hydrogen (H2V), and a dialogue session to share perspectives and strategies for advancing H2V in the region.
