Energy and Climate Partnerships Publish their Annual Report 2024

2024 was a year of many challenges and changes, but it also forged opportunities for cooperation and improvement for shared goals between Germany and other countries regarding the energy transition.
The Energy and Climate Partnerships are key instruments for German foreign trade and energy policy. Their work supports the goal of bringing Germany closer to climate neutrality by 2045 and fosters efforts to make the energy transition possible in partner countries. This is cultivated by prioritizing three general lines of action: energy security, decarbonization and promotion of international trade. Thus, each Partnership works with the particular energy context of its country to find roadmaps for lasting cooperation and international progress on climate and energy issues.
The Annual Report contains news of the progress and achievements of the 32 Partnerships during 2024. In the case of Mexico, the Mexico-Germany Energy Partnership mentions efforts to support the government with its energy transition goals, in addition to other information dissemination and networking projects to promote the energy transition with public and private actors. Green hydrogen is highlighted as a priority thematic line, which achievements for the year include a training in collaboration with SIEMENS Energy aimed at the public and private sectors. Also mentioned is the ongoing collaboration with the Mexican-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CAMEXA) to build bridges with German companies in Mexico and discuss the challenges and opportunities of the national energy market.
In sum, the achievements of the partnerships reported in the Annual Report on Energy and Climate Partnerships are examples of positive steps that have been taken to consolidate climate neutrality in the coming decades. With them, the mission of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) to build reliable and lasting international collaborations to accelerate the energy transition and support partner countries with their climate goals is advanced. In the long term, these efforts make all participants, including Mexico, more competitive and resilient to meet the challenges of the future.
