The Mexican–Germany Energy Partnership cooperates with the Climathons 2025
On October 15 and 16 in Hermosillo, Sonora and November 7 and 8 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon the CATAL1.5°T initiative held two editions of the Climathon, a hackathon-style event that brings together young people, entrepreneurs, and local communities to design innovative solutions to real climate challenges.
This year, the challenge focused on sustainable energy and the Energy Partnership participated in both locations as a strategic ally in the training and evaluation process.
During the Climathons, Diana Laura Rebollar and Fabian Barsky, technical advisors of the Partnership, provided specialized mentorship to the participating teams, supporting them in:
- Understanding the energy problem they sought to address
- Identifying opportunities for environmental and social impact
- Designing proposals aligned with principles of efficiency, sustainability, and technical viability
- Integrating key elements of the Mexican energy ecosystem into their business models
- Their participation as members of the jury also contributed to identifying the ideas with the greatest potential to become scalable climate solutions.
Throughout the sessions, which included workshops, prototyping activities, technical mentorship, and pitch presentations, participants developed proposals aimed at the transition toward more sustainable technologies, the efficient generation and use of energy, new opportunities for climate-tech entrepreneurship, and business models with positive socio-environmental impact.
The participation of the Energy Partnership reaffirmed the importance of strengthening links among entrepreneurship initiatives, academic institutions, the private sector, and international cooperation.
Through events such as the Climathon, the creation of new generations of projects and ventures aimed at accelerating a just and sustainable energy transition in Mexico is promoted. We thank CATAL1.5°T, Impact Hub, and all mentors, jury members, and participants for their collaboration and enthusiasm.
